Our Condolences 

October 27, 2009 

 

The Officers and Members of Cumberland Valley Hose Company would like to extend their condolences to the Smith family. Galen "Tub" Smith passed this morning after an extended illness.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you!!


Funeral Details:
Viewing will be held Sunday, November 1, 2009 6-8:00pm at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, 112 W King Street, Shippensburg.  The Funeral will be Monday, November 2, 2009 at 2:00pm.  Refreshments will be served at the SFAC starting at 4:30pm after graveyard services.  There will no Monday night Bingo.

      

House Fire/Furnace Malfunction
October 22, 2009


Truck and Engine 53 was alerted at 1550 box 15-6, 8918 Molly Pitcher Hwy for the dwelling Fire. Units from 15 arrived found furnace malfunction with smoke in the dwelling. Truck crew set up ventilation side A (PPV), negative at the basement stairs. Engine 53 staged. Units cleared at 1627

House Fire
October 21, 2009

Truck 53 alerted at 0405 box 247-01 for the dwelling fire at 85 Worthington Road, North Newton Township. Truck 53 arrived on scene with working fire, crews assisted with ventilation, extinguishment, ladders, salvage and over haul. Air 53 alerted at 0419 second alarm. Crews cleared at 0754.

Vehicle Accident

October 19, 2009

 

Engine 53 alerted at 1931 to the intersection of West Burd and North Seneca Street for a two vehicle accident box 53-01. Engine 53 arrived to find two vehicle accident one patient for transport and two refusals. Engine crew took care of hazard control and assisted EMS. Engine cleared at 1948

House Fire

October 12, 2009

 

Truck 53 was dispatched at 16:51 box 247-05 to 304 Oakville Road, North Newton Township for the dwelling fire. Chief 252 on the scene with smoke showing. Truck 53 arrived on scene to position on Alpha, Bravo side to ladder A,B,C,D sides, hooked ceilings, ventilation (PPV), lighting and salvage and overhaul.  Air 53 alerted at 17:15, units cleared at 18:23

Our Condolences

The Officers and Members of Cumberland Valley Hose Company would like to extend their condolences to the family of Andy Brenize and to the employees of Andy at Lurgan Township. Andy was a Lurgan Township Supervisor and had recently passed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you!!


 




Fire Prevention Activities

October 9, 2009

 

The Shippensburg Fire Department visited Nancy Grayson elementary school on Friday to promote fire safety. Students were given the opportunity to look at the fire apparatus and then learn some fire safety tips ("Stop, Drop and Roll")

Reported Building Fire 

September 26, 2009

 

Engine and Truck 53 alerted at 15:24 to 414 Rowe Road, Box 15-1, Southampton Township, Franklin County for possible Building Fire. Crews arrived to find fire in a electric panel and wall. Truck crew laddered building, ventilation on side A, lighting and checked for extension. Engine staged and units cleared at 16:10

Mutual Aid to  Huntington  

September 24, 2009 

 

Engine 53 was alert at 23:35 Box 14-06 to 22680 Decorum Road, Dublin Twp. Huntington for mutual aid on the barn fire. Engine 53 arrived to perform ladder pipe operations with foam, assisted with fire control with hand lines, and lighting.  Engine cleared at 04:10.

Franklin County 225th Anniversary Parade 1784 -2009

  September 7, 2009

 

Company 53 participated in the Franklin County's 225th anniversary parade with the 1937 Ward LaFrance and the new 2008 Pierce Engine/Ladder.  We would like to congratulate Franklin County for 225 years.

Kitchen Fire

September 6, 2009

 

Truck and Engine 53  was alerted at 1832pm to 8 Morning Star (New Apartment Complex off Hot Point Ave), Box 152-02 for the kitchen Fire. Units arrived to find smoke banked to the floor with fire controlled by an extinguisher sprinkler heads activated. Truck crew forced doors open and conducted a primary search  of Apartments 5 & 8, laddered building, ventilation, and checked for extension. Units cleared at 1924hrs.

Busy Day for the Truck House

September 2, 2009

 

Company 53 started the day at 0218 for the apartment building fire at 3589 Orrstown Road Box 11-01. Truck and Engine 53 responded, during response Units arrived to find fire on the first floor, smoke condition on the second floor  (Division 2), working fire dispatch. Truck crew, assisted with ventilation, salvage and over haul, and lighting. E53 assisted Truck operations. E53 cleared to transfer to company 11. Truck and Engine 53 cleared at 0311. During the return to station Truck was alert at 0319 to 7701 Creek Road box 11-3 for the Barn Fire, chief 11 on scene working fire. Truck arrived assisted with master stream, lighting and overhaul. Truck cleared at 0524. Shortly after the Truck and Engine was alerted to 304 North Fayette Street box 53-02 for propane tank fire next to a building. Truck and engine responded. Units arrived to find small fire next to the building, with smoke heat damage to the building., Truck crew checked for extension found nothing , fire out, Engine 53 staged at the hydrant. Units cleared 0643. After a short day of rest Truck 53 then was alerted at 1814 to 16 W. King Street Box 53-01 for the alarm bells. Truck crew investigated to find  owners testing the system and unable to reset the alarm. Crews assisted with the rest cleared at 1820.
